Establishment of Stores

With the textile and silk trading blooming since the early twenties, Al Haj Ahmad Buhajar establishes his stores in Al-Mosheer Market where he sells the finest types of silk and textiles imported from all over the world.

1958

First Gold Store

This year marks the debut of the first Buhajar gold store established by Al Haj Mustafa Buhajar in the heart of Tripoli at Al-Mosheer market. Al-Mosheer market is considered one of the historic markets of old Tripoli.

1963

Gold Sector Excellence

The Buhajar family is among the first families who have excelled in the gold sector, distinguishing itself from the others.

1970

Diamond Import

The Buhajar family is the first to import diamonds from the Italian and Lebanese markets to Libya.

1978

Continued Operation Despite Nationalization

Despite the nationalization decisions and the abolition of private property which impacted commercial and industrial facilities in Libya, The Buhajar Stores continue to meet the needs of their clients.

1988

Market Reopening

The private companies return to work, and the Libyan market becomes open to Western markets, especially the North African market.

Management Change

After graduating from the University of Oregon in the United States, Mr. Abdurrauf Buhajar joins the management team of The Buhajar Stores of Jewelry.

International Exhibitions

Buhajar debuts in international exhibitions in prestigious gold and jewelry capitals to import the most luxurious and trendy jewelry sets, expanding the business prospects.

Partnership with Damas

Buhajar stores establish a successful partnership with the international stores of Damas, providing their customers with a new shopping experience.

End of Partnership with Damas

The partnership with Damas ends, and Buhajar operates their stores under the family’s reputable name synonymous with the best.
